Miles Grindey - Isolate This!

Southampton-based artist Miles Grindey presents his new album “Isolate This!”, created in the peak of the UK’s lockdown in response to COVID-19.

Miles composes bold tracks with strength and ambition for people who hold onto hope. Personable, relatable with plenty of depth, Miles creates each track with precision to paint a picture of life before and after this period in time.

“Honestly, I needed to release an album in 2020 - I was planning to do so by the end of 2019. I even flew out to Atlanta, GA to do some recording there but issues occurred which prevented those tracks from coming out. I did get the tracks back but once Covid hit, I couldn’t exactly go into the studio mid-lockdown. So as a result - Isolate This! - was born,” says Miles Grindey

The album features eight tracks with contributions from Irish singer-songwriter, Sonia D, renowned bass players such as Richard Jewer and from Ohio, Eric Rupert. There is also a guest guitar solo from Laurence Henderson, also from Southampton. Two singles from this album, “Slam Town” and “Fully Loaded” have been released.

“This album is, mostly, fresh material written in the last few months. A lot of time and energy has been taken to ensure these are of the highest quality possible, with consultations among some of the South of England’s best producers as best as can be during these times. All around each track are carefully crafted textures, each designed to give each track a metaphorical cherry on top of these sonic sundaes. Sweet - yet nutty.”

Born and raised in Southampton, UK - Miles Grindey has music in his blood. A guitar player since the age of 9, he has constantly sought to experiment and delve into new sounds to find his own. During his time at the University of Brighton, Miles joined a (now defunct) band called “The Bones and Arrows” where he really found his start in music. Upon his departure from the band in 2016, after recording an EP with them - Miles continued his musical path solo. Today, Miles is writing music from home and riding out the pandemic.

Miles Grindey recently spent some time in Atlanta, GA. He travelled over in November 2018 to refine and continue work on an album. The album was set to be finished by the time he returned in May 2019, where upon there was a series of technical difficulties which led to that album being postponed. One single was released a short time after his return to Southampton, UK titled “Make Up Your Mind” - which is so far his most popular track.

Isolate This!” follows on from Miles’ first album “Caught in a Storm” which, to-date, has raised over £60 for the mental health charity, Mind UK. “Isolate This!” released digitally worldwide on September 18th 2020.

In two words: Very Good !
