The Radio Sun - Beautiful Strange (2018)

TRS_BS_2018_high_res_Final.jpg

Australian melodic rockers The Radio Sun have done it again with their new album 'Beautiful Strange'! With the band's debut album released in 2014, this will be the fifth album in five years!
The Radio Sun have worked very hard to build up their following by touring all over the world in support of each and every release. Performances in Japan, Europe, United States, United Kingdom and their home country Australia has showed the band's ability to rise. The Radio Sun are the first band to ever play Hard Rock Hell AOR Fest U.K four times in a row, whilst also having played at Melodic Rock Fest on four different occasions.
The four piece group is fronted by the charismatic Jason Old on lead vocals, guitar slinger Stevie Janevski, bassist Anthony Wong & drummer Gilbert Annese. With all four members singing backing vocals, the boys delve into layered vocal harmonies reminiscent of the classics - Queen, The Sweet & Def Leppard. This is not to say that they don't have their own sound. The Radio Sun have great unique hooks in their songs. The new album is another progression for the band, with songs like 'Hold On Tight' and 'Miss Wonderful' grooving like never before. 'As Long As You Want Me' and 'Five Years After' are both melodic bliss, boosted by a great production by Paul Laine (solo, The Defiants) and mastering by Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger, The Defiants).
The Radio Sun is feel good music and sounds just as strong acoustic or electric. Last year the boys performed acoustic shows in Japan and this year saw The Radio Sun invited to play the prestigious Sweden Rock Festival.

Hitwood - Marea (2018)

The Hitwood project was founded by Antonio Boccellari in 2007, its based in the North of Italy and its intended as a collaborative Melodic Death Metal project. The concept at the base of the project is all about DIY (do it yourself), so everything is self-produced.
Story of this project is really curious…Around 2007, an old wise man appears in the dreams of the founder and guide him into an abstract journey. In these “travels” this old man, called Hitwood, explains how he’s trapped in that dreamworld from a long time and his real alter-ego it’s probably already alive in the real world but it’s stuck in an perpetual sleep. The old man discover in the dreamworld the dark future of the earth and do its best to communicate this by appearing in people dreams. In these dreams he’s able to hear and remember after the dream some celestial melodies that sounds in the background of the dreams, and the purpose of this project is to adapting these ones in a Melodic Death/Post Metal style then narrate the events at the same time.
The first album "When Youngness... Flies Away..." was released in October 2016 after 9 years of composition necessary to elaborate all the melodies dreamed in the past years and trying to commutate them into a Metal approach and give them a logic song structure.
After this important milestone, was released another EP called "As a Season Bloom" (2017). Short album with only four songs where every track describe through music the vibe of every season to make a testament of how the season where before what would happen in the future.
Detriti EP will follow in the same year and become the starting point of the project that will not be anymore a one-man band but a collaborative project that involves guest musicians from all around the world. For the first time the songs featured growl vocals and a more old school Melodic Death Metal approach for the sound.
In 2018, Antonio has recruited other collaborators to prepare the successor album called “Marea”, preceded by the single Apocalyptic Omen (feat Laurhell) that marks another important change in the sound of Hitwood, more obscure than ever.
In the July of this hear Hitwood released the full lenght MAREA with the collaboration of 4 guest vocalists Carlos Timaure, Laurhell, Rikk Wolf and Gary Glays. The new album provide a more intricated and obscure sound than the past without renounce at the melodic part of the project.

NAUT - Raise The Lights (2018)

NAUT are a 5 piece Post-Punk/Goth Rock band from Bristol, England whose shared love of classic rock and metal, along side reverence for the goth and post-punk pioneers of the late 70s and 80s makes itself known from the start. The songs switch from raw gothic tribal tom beats to uplifting anthemic synth in a moment, but always stay danceable and perhaps most dangerously, catchy.

Driving basslines and pounding drums create a dynamic and shifting rhythm section to support the interwoven guitar and synth lines, which create harmonies more akin to NWOBHM than a straight up Goth revival band. The lyrics emerging from the hypnotic riffs carry a theme of otherworldly exploration, removing self imposed limits and realising your Will.

To explore the self and the world we inhabit to the fullest is a recurring call, with occult and alchemical imagery, double meanings and lines open to interpretation making the songs as shifting and hard to pin down as the world they describe.

Musically standing apart from contemporary post-punk revival bands, NAUT brings something new to the table and the 80s back to where they should be, here.

After a string of electrifying shows as both headliners and main support for acts including GRAVE PLEASURES and COLD IN BERLIN, NAUT have ushered their debut EP into the world. ‘Raise the Lights’ was recorded late in MMXVII at RS Studios in BRISTOL by Jamie Elton and was mastered by Orgone Studios (Ulver, Grave Pleasures, Ghost).

'Raise the Lights' was released on 08.06.18

RAINFALL TODAY - Eternal (2018)

Russian alternative rock/metal band Rainfall Today arrive with their debut album Eternal available in all the standard formats worldwide via Sliptrick Records. Citing influences such as including Asking Alexandria, Evanescence, Deftones and Alice In Chains to name a few, it gives an indication toward their hard modern sound topped with strong melodies and performances. Following on the heels of their first independently released EP In Your Head (2016), Eternal is the bands first full-length offering.
Here’s the bands rather opaque and unique description for Eternal; “It is generally accepted that the Earth is our home. But there are too many people on Earth who feel like a stranger here. And what if somewhere far away, maybe even in another galaxy, each of us has a planet of our own?

A special place, where you are the ruler of your universe? Red sand, warm wind, deep black seas and endless mountains … or an iron city where people live, without fears and experiences and communicate at a subconscious level? For everyone there is a different world in which we will feel at home. Where things will be understood and accepted. But while these planets are so far away from us, they can not fly in a few hours, there is another way. Close your eyes, put headphones on your ears, turn on Rainfall Today. And listen. Your planet, your real home inside your head. There are no borders. Only you create them! You can do everything!

Thanks to all the people who believe in themselves, their force creates in spite of everything.” – Rainfall Today

NEUTRAL BOMBS - Pretend To Fly (2018)

The new album from Swiss punk rock act Neutral Bombs is titled Pretend To Fly and it’s an original celebration of life, of which death is also an integral part.

The album kicks off with the killer song Still Shout, an anthem for all those who never give up and then continues with a hymn to live music Alive And Well and No Attitude, a fast and short classic punk rock song. Dancing In The Moonlight, which tells about a clandestine love, is the only song present from the first EP of the band published in 2015, Another Culture Dies. Another love song is Never, a slow song from the band, which is a about suffering. Inside the LP there’s also some space for a delicate theme, such as euthanasia, with the song Exit. The title is a clear reference to “EXIT”, a democratically organised society of the Swiss law dedicated to the cause of human self-determination. Raise Your Glass (Not Your Phone) is a very fast and short song, a tip to enjoy gigs instead of using phones all the time to take pictures and videos. Fights is a criticism against those who (politicians included) are unable to discuss problems without violence and cannot face a man-to-man conversations in order to solve their problems.
With the arrival of the Gay Pride in their city for the first time, the band wrote a song about LGBT rights, the track Pride. This is an important event in a small conservative city such as Lugano, and Neutral Bombs face it in a very positive way with the coming out of the singer. Pretend To Fly ends with the tracks Ship Of Fools, the single released in December, and Wait Too Long, the longest song of the album which is a reflection on the passing of time and on lost opportunities.

Pretend To Fly is composed by 11 new songs recorded in October 2017 at New Mood Recording Studio (Cantu, Italy) and mastered at New Mastering Studio (Milano, Italy).

Pretend To Fly | Released June 26th, 2018 on Sliptrick Records

Track Listing:
01. Still Shout | 02. No Attitude | 03. Alive And Well | 04. Dancing In The Moonlight | 05. Never | 06. Exit | 07. Raise Your Glass (Not Your Phone) | 08. Fights | 09. Pride | 10. Ship Of Fools | 11. Wait Too Long

Neorhythm - Zetetic (2018)

Zetetic1000.jpg

NEORHYTHM offer what can only be described as Metal from Space on debut album Zetetic. Creative in concept and aggressive in approach, Zetetic is an interstellar journey that is impossible to forget. The album was produced and mixed by Vladimir Lehtinen (SECOND TO SUN). https://neorhythm.bandcamp.com/

The origin story of NEORHYTHM as told by the cosmic metal duo, is an intriguing one, to say the least:

"On a distant planet in the constellation E61,3 (which we call Neuw ourselves),
two renegade traitors of interstellar spaces from the red subrace of Nameless decided to penetrate the Virgo Supercluster. It happened on the earthly calendar in the year 1703. For more than 300 years our spaceship plowed through the galaxy until it came across the Milky Way to the bright yellow dwarf G2V, which you call Sol.

A strong stream of stellar wind carried us to the orbit of planet Earth, where as a result of a breakdown of one of the plasma engines we were forced to land in the geographic terrestrial region of Lapland, in a barren taiga. Since we needed help, we sent encrypted sound signals to all regions of the universe, as well as to the top leaders of the human Terra planet, to provide us with technological support. Our signals, converted into musical scales, were intercepted by the developed radio frequencies of earthlings, and you can now listen to them in the form that you call songs."

Armonite - And the Stars Above (2018)

Instrumental rock for electric violin, keyboards, bass, an drums.

Composer Paolo Fosso and violinist Jacopo Bigi are classical-trained, but "classical" is not how they would describe themselves. Through their teenage years, they joined a few local bands playing a variety of genres and artists, from the Beatles to Dream Theater.

At the end of the '90s, while still in college, they would play in a band called Armonite. They released an album in 1999, performed a few dates live, and then split up.

In 2015, they formed a new band while borrowing the name of their old one. When they had enough tracks to make an album, they hired Porcupine Tree's bassist, Colin Edwin and Dutch drummer Jasper Barendregt for the recording, which took place remotely.

The first producer of Muse, Paul Reeve, accepted the offer to produce the entire work, with mastering at the Abbey Road Studios in London. Their album “The Sun is New each Day” was released in June 2015.

On September 21, Armonite performed at Expo 2015 Milano for “The Water Rooms” Official Launch organized by UNESCO. After their performance in Bettmeralp, Switzerland, March 2016, at an elevation of 2,000 meters (6,500 ft), the band toured UK in mid-July.

With the track 'Blue Curaçao' included in their new album, Armonite have been awarded an Honorable Mention both in the Instrumental and Performance categories at the International Songwriting Competition 2017 from a top level committee including Tom Waits, Lorde, Bastille, Billy Cobham, Ziggy Marley, Don Omar, and Keane.

Armonite has also published the videos of a few soundtrack renditions from the most popular video games and movies: Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, The Exorcist, Suspiria, Skyrim, Final Fantasy, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, The Witcher, and many others…!

On May 25, 2018, Cleopatra Records released Armonite's new album, "And the Stars Above".

Suits and Daggers - Frozen Planet (2018)

Suits and Daggers is a Victory Metal band from Saginaw Michigan. They are a blend of metal genres forged into one project. Their music features a minor tonality, a range of screams, powerful clean vocal harmonies, heavy and tasteful breakdowns, completed with progressive lyrical content.

Suits and Daggers was originally founded by Andy Martin back in 2015 with hopes of chasing his dreams and spreading a positive message while traveling with his best friends Jerry Loyselle the Bassist, and backing voice, and Noah Barber the second guitarist. Later After the band began to pick up steam, these 3 best friends were desperately in need of a dedicated drummer. Jeff Douglas answered the call. As an old friend of Andy's, Jeff joined Suits and Daggers and completed the line up.

Frozen Planet begins with a gentle piano melody and a flash of female vocals that entwine to lull the listener into a false sense of security. Just as soon as these pieces begin to settle in, a heart-dropping scream disrupts the serenity, followed by a molten guitar riff that carves its way into the mix. That guitar is soon accompanied by thunderous drums, a wall of rhythm guitar, and a booming bass, all of which sweep through the track and descend onto the listener without warning.

Frozen Planet is the newest record from Michigan-based progressive metal outfit Suits and Daggers. In a scene that’s fraught with minuscule subgenre distinctions, Suits and Daggers were able to avoid all that discussion by creating a genre of their own: Victory Metal. While this self-ascribed label preemptively dismantles many of the needless genre-centered debates that occur between metal elitists, it also serves a more critical role offering a glimpse at the way Suits and Daggers approach their music.
“Built on the pillars of hard work, dedication, teamwork and integrity” Suits and Daggers offer a unique spin on the progressive metal sound that revels in a positive outlook on life. Taking cues from some of the genre’s greats like Parkway Drive and Erra, the band’s debut is a life-affirming, confidence-boosting, and powerfully-strong addition to the metal scene.
Given this uniquely-upbeat approach to a typically-dour genre, the band spends the lion’s share of Frozen Planet’s 45 minutes chasing their dreams and encouraging listeners to do the same. It’s a transitive joy that rubs off on the listener before the first song is over.
While the Suits and Daggers are obviously influenced by the some of the genre’s biggest names, Frozen Planet also bears a quaint charm of lesser-known acts like Skies of December and Settle the Sky.
The interspersed piano adds an orchestral flair à-la In Fear and Faith, and an unabashed
love for group chants hints at an infatuation for Burden of a Day. All in all good company to be in, especially for a band this young.
Influences aside, there are also dozens of brilliant and unique moments scattered throughout Frozen Planet. Interjections of piano throughout “Defender,” unrelenting spitfire vocals on “Velvet Glove,” and a towering riff on “Empathy” are just a few of the album’s many highlights.

Late-album cut “Tranquility” allows the listener a moment of breathing room before
immediately launching into another barrage of brutal screams and punchy riffs. As cymbals crash and guitar shreds back and forth, the track swiftly transitions to the titular “Frozen Planet” which bears the album’s most aggressive instrumentals and hard-hitting lyrics.
Centered around a crushing breakdown and Andy Martin’s heartfelt songwriting, the album’s penultimate song speaks for itself as to why it is worthy of the album’s namesake.
Overall Frozen Planet is a fun, heartfelt, and inspirational metal album. For long-time fans of the genre who are searching for an exciting new act, look no further than Suits and Daggers.

SQUARED HUMAN - ALT UND NEU (Video 2018)

SQUARED HUMAN consists of me, myself and I. A real solo project. While "me" is once again too late, "myself" still fights with the hangover from last night and "I" still sits on the bowl, it could actually already start off. Once again it's Saturday night, the child sleeps, the woman left the house and the cellar belongs to the three schizos. A badass mask ball, squared, loud, the neighbors cuss.

What a wicked stuff and awesome cinema that SQUARED HUMAN there offer. Rocking handmade Metal with cutting vocals and abyssed lyrics, in German that the mother-in-law understands them too. The past is behind them, they are getting older and learning. But like all other squares in life, the former projects Beyond Helvete, ZwenZ, Nachtfrost and Smashed Ruins are a part of Mastermind Krause. And this guy does not only write the lucid hymns, no he also offends to all the instruments as well as record and mix everything by himself.

And the next move is already planned. One song after another, a video chasing the next. Get your mobile data volume up and follow this crazy show on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
