Eastbound Subway Train is the latest single by Helsinki-based punk
rockers Daggerplay. The song is packed with fast rock´n´roll groove
with an old school Celtic punk melodies which bring to mind the great energy
from legends Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.
Fueled by fiery guitars, urban voodoo drums, furiously pumping bass and
anxiously wailing storylines, Eastbound Subway Train is speeding up
to the seedier sides of metropolitan cities. The song is inspired by the
real-life struggles of living in a big city and never quite finding a way
through it. It is an unflinching look at the difficulties – economic,
physical, and emotional – that come with existing in the modern era.
Formed
in 2011 out of the bohemian district of Kallio in Helsinki, Finland,
Daggerplay began creating their punk, rock´n´roll style that also has
influences with late seventies powerpop. With lyrics based on own
experiences quite dark at times about growing up in a small town in Finland
and the crazy years living London, but at the same time not forgetting the
hope and humour of it all.
