Australia’s female-fronted hard rock/metal outfit Scorching Winter have announced their new album Victim. The record was released on October 29 th , and is available through Bandcamp and iTunes. Their new single “From The Ashes” can be streamed HERE.
Along the lines of bands like Dream Theater, Metallica, and Iron Maiden, Victim is an 8-track
concept album driven by technical instrumentation, soaring vocals, and dark themes. The story
is about a girl who is raped and beaten by a group of men, and saved by a demon who offers
her powers to seek revenge. The only way she can obtain those powers, however, is in exchange for her soul. Key tracks: “The Six Headed Beast” and “Wrath”. Scorching Winter formed in 2012. The band consists of vocalist Tina Papadimitriou, keyboardist Natalie Bellio, guitarist Rafael Katigbak, drummer Nick James, and bassist Glenn Treasure. The band released an EP in 2013 called Peripheral. Earlier this year they released a music video for their song “The Shining,” off the EP (watch that here). Prior to Peripheral they put out a pair of singles, “Leap” and “One You Left Behind”.
“We make music to satisfy ourselves creatively,” says guitarist Rafael Katigbak. “We love
playing our instruments, writing and pushing ourselves to become better musicians and artists.
In as much as we hope our fans like it, we feel that they would appreciate it more if we were
honest with who we are rather than try and make music that we think they want us to make.”
